Solana DEX Volume Beats Ethereum for the Third Month

# Solana's DEX volume beat Ethereum's again, and this time the volume is boring <!-- Sample article. Figures and attributions are placeholders — verify before publishing. --> Third month running. Solana DEX volume over Ethereum's. Back when this first happened it was memecoin churn and everyone correctly called it froth. The number held, but for reasons nobody liked. This time the composition is different enough that I think the dismissals are stale. ## Dollars, not memes Stablecoin transfer volume on Solana hit an ATH. More dollar-denominated value settles there per day than anywhere else. I checked where it comes from rather than just quoting the headline, because that headline can hide almost anything. It's merchant settlement, cross-border remittance, treasury rebalancing. Companies actually moving money. This is the distinction people keep skipping. Exchange volume is a bet. Payment volume is a business expense. When a market is 80% second category, red quarters look like a slowdown rather than a cliff. > **Editor here:** I deliberately don't quote a live price, spread or fee in this piece those move hourly and any number I printed would be wrong by morning. Fractional exposure to individual US names, sub-second settlement, 400+ million in positions. I'll say the obvious thing: this is rounding error next to a hundred trillion dollar equity market. The regulatory path in several jurisdictions could get worse next quarter. But the growth rate is doing the work, and the same analysts who called it a toy in 2023 are writing about infrastructure now. ## Validator revenue is still getting squeezed High throughput means more transactions means more validators sharing a fee pool that didn't grow proportionally. Annualized validator revenue down again, operators warning about consolidation. Local fee markets help. Priority fees are now a real slice of validator income, and apps bidding directly for inclusion is a better mechanism than just taxing everyone equally. Still thin. Just less thin. > **Editor here:** I deliberately don't quote a live price, spread or fee in this piece those move hourly and any number I printed would be wrong by morning. Most of that settlement volume routes through maybe five applications. On any aggregate chart, growth from five apps and growth from five hundred look identical. So when I read "Solana volume up 40% this quarter" I always want the app breakdown, and almost nobody posts it. I don't think it's hidden deliberately. I think it's just genuinely hard to get.
