Ethereum's Staking Exit Queue Just Hit Zero

# The Ethereum staking backlog is empty and nobody can agree if that matters <!-- Sample article. Figures and attributions are placeholders — verify before publishing. --> Zero. The exit queue is at zero. Was over 40,000 validators in the spring. Anyone stuck waiting to unstake had their ETH back weeks ago without noticing. ## How you get a 40,000-validator queue Blob capacity goes up. Staking requirement recalculates. A chunk of institutional operators — the kind running seven figures in EigenLayer or whatever the wrapper is this quarter — run a spreadsheet. Their ratio no longer pencils. They hit exit at the same time. The queue builds faster than it drains. Obviously. Everyone knows how queues work. It still took two quarters. ## 30% of supply staked, give or take Round numbers are doing work here. ~30% of ETH supply sits in validators now, which puts you close enough to the Shanghai thresholds that people are writing posts about it. The tell I trust more: liquid staking tokens trading at a premium to redemption. That's people paying a small haircut to get exposure they can't get any other way right now. Premiums on LSTs are a queue indicator, just for the other direction. Several big platforms posted record deposits this month. I'll believe it when I see the withdrawal side catch up. ## Fees in the basement, though Base fees near multi-year lows for two straight months, and blob space is still cheap after all those increases. Which was the goal. Genuinely. Fees were the reason normal people hated using the chain. They got fixed. The cost was that fee revenue is now a smaller piece of the token's economic story than it was two years ago. Worth saying plainly: the upgrade worked. Don't let anyone tell you it didn't. > **Editor here:** I deliberately don't quote a live price, spread or fee in this piece — those move hourly and any number I printed would be wrong by morning. For the current figure and the actual fee you'll pay, [check it live here](https://faucet.sbs/p/crypto). ## Net deflation is now an app-layer question Burn tracks fees. Fees are low. So ETH is net negative on supply right now. The margin is thin enough that one decent week of on-chain activity flips it back to inflationary. Which means the supply story depends on apps, not on stakers. Stakers are a slow variable. Apps are a volatile one. That's a downgrade in predictability even though the headline number is still deflationary. Also worth sitting with: more ETH locked means less ETH liquid. Fewer sellers in a red market, sure. But less dry powder for a melt-up too. Both, simultaneously, is how it actually works.
